[Facilier knew it was only a matter of time before he got himself a permanent Warden. He'd done well to get this far, he supposed, at least it had given him time to stockpile gris gris in the unlikely event he'd ever get his powers back proper again. It wasn't that he especially disliked Kira, either, she rankled him no more than any other average shmuck on the street, and at least she tried to be tolerable.
No, what worried him the most was that now she has his file. His whole life, there for her to read and digest. For a man who lived by his lies, for whom the truth was something never truly spoken, where the con was everything, this was decidedly Not Good. Everything he built so far here could come tumbling down like a house of cards, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. It was almost like being home again, having other people be able to hold power over him, and he hated hit.
So, when any other poor soul of prohibition would be enjoying the first new years in a lot of new years getting as sozzled as humanly possible, Facilier spent the night with just one glass of wine, thinking. As tempting as the idea was to get hammered, he'd need sobriety for this. If he could just find some way, any way, to work this colossal pain in the backside to his advantage, he might make this a somewhat bearable partnership.
He'll be civil to anyone who comes by to see him, but his usual charisma is dimmed. ]
[1st - Private to Kira]
[After a restless night, Facilier knows he has to bite the bullet. If he stays silent too long, his guilt will be damning. Best get this out and done with quickly, like ripping off a band aid. When he talks, the ease and charm is back in his tone. He needs to bring his A game to this.]
So. Looks like the Admiral decided we'd be a good fit for one another after all.

[Wants what he can't have back home, and all that. Always reaching for the finery.]

[He scrambles up out of his seat to go to the bar]
no subject
Not plannin' on goin' anywhere.
no subject
So how come you weren't all wee last week?
no subject
Luck, I reckon. About time it started to work for me.
[There's a pause, and he sits back a little, steepling his fingers together.]
You've had a Warden for a while, haven't you?
no subject
What d'you want to know about that for?
no subject
Because I got one of my own today. Permanent like.

[He glances up at Shadow, curious and a little nervous. Mason's never been the most observant of creatures, but he can tell something is off about Facilier's mood]
You all right, mate?
no subject
Just not all that keen on havin' someone with all the details of my life at their fingertips.
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, that's unfortunate. But you knew it had to happen eventually, right?
no subject
I did, but it don't mean I liked the idea any. Ain't fair, them being able to know everything about us, and us not getting the same about them.
no subject
It's only one person that knows everything. I don't think they're running about sharing our file with other wardens.
...Least, I don't think they are.
no subject
Don't mean that they can't, though, does it? Ain't nothing stopping them if they really want to.
no subject
But what secrets do you have that can't stand revealing? You're already dead, mate. Can't get much worse.
no subject
It can get a lot worse.
no subject
If your warden's going to find out anyway from your file, you can practice what you're going to say to her on me.
no subject
Thanks for the offer, though. Reckon I'll just wing it. [Or try to kill her. No. That would probably end badly.]
no subject
Well, why not? C'mon, I won't tell anyone. I'm very trustworthy.
no subject
I don't like sharing.
